Megan Schaefer, PA-C

Schaefer, PA-C, grew up in Port Washington, Wisconsin, and attended the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee for her bachelor's degree in physical education and recreation. After deciding she wanted to give back to her community, she became a certified emergency medical technician. She put her EMT training to use by volunteering with the Port Washington ambulance service for 19 years and working with the Sheboygan Orange Cross for three years. Megan found EMT work to be very rewarding and discovered that she truly enjoyed working in medicine, so she attended Essex College in Baltimore, Maryland, for her physician assistant certification. She went on to work for the team doctors for the Milwaukee Brewers, Admirals and Bucks. During her work in orthopedics, Megan cared for a lot of people facing difficult situations, even having to give up their careers due to their pain. As a provider at Advanced Pain Management, Megan hopes her experiences can help others who are going through similarly challenging circumstances.

"Pain affects people's minds, as well as their bodies. I hope that, through my experiences, I can help make it easier for patients to cope. It takes respect - and honesty - between both the patient and the caregiver to accomplish this."
