Hypertonic Saline Injection

Hypertonic saline injections are administered to breakdown scar tissue. This injection can be helpful for the treatment of failed back surgery syndrome, disc disruption, compression fracture, epidural scarring following infection or meningitis and pain that does not respond to spinal pain medications or spinal stimulation. Although uncommon, risks include bleeding, nerve damage, infection and allergic reaction to the medication.
