Ganglion Impar Injection

The ganglion impar is a cluster of nerve cells in front of the joint between the sacrum and the coccyx.  This procedure is used to reduce the symptoms of chronic pelvic or rectal pain by blocking nerve impulses. Although uncommon, risks include bleeding, infection, nerve injury and allergic reaction to the medication.
