DiscogramA discogram is a procedure in which contrast (dye) is injected into the center of your disc under pressure to determine if the injected discs are the source of your pain. It is a diagnostic procedure that shows the presence of tears and/or abnormalities in the disc. At the completion of the procedure, you will need to go to your local hospital or radiology department to have a CT scan of your spine. This CT will provide detailed pictures of the damaged discs. Although uncommon, risks include infection, bleeding, allergic reaction to the medication and nerve damage. |
