Relieving Foot and Hand Pain

Maria received a neurostimulation device from Advanced Pain Management to help with her complex regional pain syndrome.Maria is living a life she never imagined she could have.

For most of her life, Maria spent her summers outdoors showing horses. But after six years of foot pain, which caused her to lose the ability to work with her horses regularly, Maria came to see the physicians at Advanced Pain Management for a second opinion. Maria suffered from a painful disease called complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS or RSD), and she had never seen a doctor who could really help with the pain.

Her first visit at APM put her at ease. “Right away the nurses made me feel comfortable,” said Maria.

Treating Maria’s disease is not easy, so her physician worked with her to find a treatment plan that fit her personal needs. Maria tried a number of treatment options, but never really felt lasting, full relief of her pain. That's when her physician suggested a neurostimulation device, a small lead in her back that delivers low electrical impulses, changing pain signals to tingling sensations.

“After we talked about the treatment and I read through some educational material,” Maria said, “I thought this was something that had the potential to change my life.”

Did it ever. Maria had excellent results from the minimally invasive treatment option and she reports that her pain level decreased substantially. Not only is Maria spending more time with her horses, she is truly enjoying life.

“I hope that living my life to the fullest and enjoying every moment I now have without debilitating pain will be my payment to the whole clinic for a job well done,” Maria said. “That life I could never imagine, well, I am living it!”
